Leather, stripes, and a little bit of leopard

I did a spontaneous dash into Sportsgirl at the weekend and came out a very happy lady. Why is it when you're not really looking for anything you always find the best stuff? Then when you are desperate for the perfect outfit for the perfect event - nada.

I have been looking for a leather (or leather look) skirt for a while and although originally I was after a shorter, maybe pleated, version, when I came across this little number I was intrigued and before I knew it was in the changing rooms. Oops.

I found the top when I was looking for something to try on with the skirt (I was wearing a dress) and low and behold, it was the perfect combination :-). It's a great textured stripe and makes for a sort of updated breton. And who doesn't love a good breton right? Right.

Two things I particularly love about the skirt - the length and the pockets. I think the length stands the skirt apart from other offerings on the high street and while a midi-pencil might not normally seem like the most appropriate 'day' or 'weekend' wear,  the pockets give it a more casual edge. Add a pair of trainers (I'm currently craving some Nike Air Max) or my new Seed Heritage leopard sneakers, et voila.

What I might just love most about this outfit though is that, pair it with the right accessories, and it works for weekend or work, for day or night.

Swap the bag for a clutch (in this case the same bag with the strap removed), the sneakers for heels, delicate jewellery for a chunky necklace and add a slick of bright lipstick and you're ready for a day at the office or cocktails with the girls.

  4. Hi I love this outfit! Do you mind me asking what size the skirt is? Want to try and get one online as soon as they are restocked at the end of April. Thanks x

    1. Hi Kay, mines a small. I'm usually a size 10 and would get a medium in lots of things but I think Sportsgirl tends to come up a bit big. Hope you manage to get one! x
