The humble hat

If you've got the balls to pull off a great hat then I am envious. Hats have been the tipping point for many a sartorial outfit for decades; from the 40's cloche to the 70's flop and the 90's baseball cap - they've been around.

If you're not used to them though the hat becomes less humble and more intimidating. Personally I think it's all about confidence, you need to own that hat (girlfriend).

Plus, you know, don't go overboard and choose something more suited to Royal Ascot then a quick dash down the shops.

The felt fedora is a good place to start. Simple, chic and a wide brim that essentially serves as a make-shift umbrella.

Witchery black felt fedora, Catarzi Exclusive to Asos bordeaux classic fedora

My favourite is the Country Road one- I love the wide brim and I think the contrast of the grey and the black is a great combo; it's softer than all black but still got a masculine edge to it which I think is one of the sexy things about the fedora in the first place.

There are so many great ways to style a good looking hat and these are just a couple of my favourite inspiration images (check out my pinterest board for more). Like I said, I think confidence is half the battle, the other half is finding the right hat. And seeing as I've given a few options above already...you're I'm really running out of excuses not to give it a go.
