Christmas Wishlist

Whilst I'm not a fan of the last minute Christmas Eve dash to the shops, I can't admit to being the most organised Christmas shopper and I usually start panicking in the 2nd-3rd week of December when I madly start surfing the internet for inspiration.

Favourite new discovery

I noticed a new arrival in my local shopping haunt a couple of weeks ago but only had a chance to go in and take a good look recently. West Elm is a furniture and homewares store from the Williams-Sonoma group in the US and a very welcome addition to the Australian shopping scene.

Leopard and leather by day

It's no secret that I am a devoted leopard print lover, my wardrobe is teaming with the stuff; from sandals to pumps, t-shirts, skirts, sweaters and even underwear. For some reason a good leopard print is like a moth to a flame for me-I just can't resist it.

Travel in comfort and style

I know to some people it might seem like a lot of unnecessary effort to plan a travel outfit, I have to (perhaps somewhat ashamedly) say I really think it's worth it.

Stripes are always a good idea

I've been trying to fit in as much travel as possible while I'm living in Melbourne and am doing pretty well at slowly crossing off some must-see destinations in Australia. Most recently that included a blissful few days spent relaxing on Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays. I'm not sure what my expectations were before arriving on the island but whatever they were, they were far exceed from the moment we arrived.

Let's get physical...with The Healthy Ingredient

I recently paid a visit to nutritionist Bannie Williams from The Healthy Ingredient in Melbourne.  I’d been wondering about going to see a nutritionist for a while but kept bailing with the excuse that without a load of weight to lose or the need for a massive diet overhaul, it was an unnecessary expense that could be better spent on yoga, training, meals out….or, let’s face it in my case-clothes.

A weekend in Sydney

Last weekend we made a quick trip to Sydney for the engagement party of two very close friends. We also managed to squeeze in a bit of touristy action with the Sydney Bridge Climb which was predictably amazing. Blue skies and hardly any wind made for the perfect climb and the views were as good as you can imagine.

I realised as we were walking to the bridge in the morning that I was having an unintentional 'sponsored by Seed' moment so forgive the repetitive tags!

Seed Heritage Lucy Printed Sneaker

A very quick post to any of you that liked the like of the Kurt Geiger leopard trainers from my Aus wishlist. Without the option to try before buying, ordering from the UK might put you off so I wanted to share these from Seed (which is fast becoming my replacement Zara out here i.e. I buy everything there). The print is a bit lighter and I think I still prefer the KG's but these come in a very close second!

Wishin' and hopin'...in Aus

So here's my seasonal wishlist for Aus which was actually much harder to slim down than I thought-there is a lot out there I could buy right now. As usual I've gone for simple, clean styles that can be mixed and matched throughout my wardrobe.

Wishin' and hopin'...in the UK

So even though in Melbourne we are just creeping into Spring and the shops are beginning to fill up with summery dresses, short sleeves and sandals, I just can't stop myself taking a sneak peak at all of the amazing new season stuff hitting the shops in the UK either.

Seed Heritage Espadrilles

It's fair to say that when I set my heart on owning a certain item of clothing, it becomes my mission to find and own it. And if some well-meaning shop assistant foolishly utters the words 'sold out in your size' it only serves to add fuel to the flame. From that point on I will almost certainly be ringing every store (or getting said shop assistant to), scouring the internet and doing everything I can to find whatever it is I simply cannot live without.

Dark and Stormy

Recently I seem to have developed a bit of an obsession for dark camo-esque combinations. It might be something to do with the freezing weather in Melbourne at the moment and the fact that I am thoroughly over Winter and it's overshadowing my tastes, or it could just be that I really love my new J Crew cashmere sweater in navy and I'll find any excuse to wear it.

Whatever the reason, as the clouds rolled in last Saturday I was drawn to this navy and khaki combo; a humble nod to the slightly military inspired look I seem to be lusting over at the moment.

Let's get physical

I spend quite a bit of time browsing the internet and magazines for information on nutrition and fitness tips. Whilst of course there are times when exercise feels like nothing more than a chore, in general I do enjoy keeping active. I'm a much nicer person when I fit some kind of exercise into my daily/weekly routine and I also believe it is incredibly important to look after your body and (as naf as it sounds) treat it with respect. I have seen first-hand the painful and detrimental effects an unhealthy lifestyle can have on a person's health and life and I hope never to see someone close to me in that state again. Although you can't help what illnesses may befall you, you can do your best to arm your body with its best form of defence.

Classic treasure

Over the course of this blog you'll hear me talk about how simple my style is. I always go for plain basics and more often than not you'll find a plain grey, white or black tee is at the foundation of my outfit. I'm certainly never going to win any awards for most outrageous fashion decision and the same goes for my weekend uniform, which tends to be fairly predictable.

Too early for shorts?

Oops too late...

I popped into Seed for a harmless browse at the weekend (actually that's a lie, I went to find a pair of shoes I know they are about to get in and I am mildly obsessed with-more on those another time) and somehow came out with a pair of summer shorts.

Bling a ring ding

My most recent purchase was a total impulse buy but I'm so glad I went for it as I have been wearing it so much I am now finding myself trying to come up with reasons not to wear it. I know.

Burnt orange comfort

I picked these up in a last-minute dash to Zara before I left London on a recent two week trip to visit my family and friends. I felt a strange sense of panic that I wouldn't be near a decent Zara again for a while and therefore justified another (10th?) visit to my mecca before I left for Melbourne.

What's my name?

I've always been a fan of classic, personalized necklace (thank you Carrie Bradshaw) and you can find me wearing my own Laura Lee initial necklace most days but recently I seem to have upped the anti on the monogram front.

Long live the Converse

I'm keeping it short and sweet today and simply want to declare my love for the classic converse that we all cherish and adore. I've been through god knows how many pairs of white Converse but I still get excited when my latest pair arrives, especially when they are accomponied by a second leopard print pair. Long live the Converse.

Met Ball 2013

A number of attendees from this year's Met Ball have come under fire for not indulging in the Punk theme set for the evening by host Anna Wintour.  I'm actually not bothered by this apparent faux pas as I've never been a fan of the punk look but despite that, I was still a little disappointed by the fashion this year with nothing much giving me that wow factor. Nonetheless I still love pouring over the different looks from the night so here are my favourites, punk or not.

Sow a seed

I had a great run in Seed recently, a shop I've kept a keen eye on since arriving in Melbourne. I've found that although some of the products are a little predictable, they also come up with a few classic gems.

Work basics might not be the most exciting purchase but you know you're going to get a lot of wear out of them and I can't wait to start creating some different looks. That's the best thing about a good basic-it gives you the base to build whatever look you are feeling that day.

Take deux...

Ok, so as you can see my blog didn't exactly get off to the best start. A problem that I imagine is common amongst the blogging generation...

" I should totally write a blog"

and there it ends.

In my defence, I am back and raring to give it another go. A lot has changed in my life since I last took up the challenge of a blog. While I am a true London girl at heart, I am currently sampling the wonder of life down under in the fabulous city of Melbourne.

So what better reason that to start sharing and caring once again? New city, new start...new shops :-)
